Quick and Easy Vegan Apple Snack

Craving something healthy is rare for us. Who really wants a celery stick? But we make sure we stay healthy and eat foods that curb our bad habit cravings while giving our bodies what they really crave. Snacking can be a bad habit, but if you turn it into healthy habit then it's actually really good for you! Snacking often on healthy foods helps curb cravings, keep up the metabolism, and keeps us from stuffing our faces at dinner time right before bed...which is a really bad thing to do!

Caleb loves apples while I'm not the biggest fan. Not sure what it is, I just never say to myself "mmm I'd love to have an apple right about now." That thought has never registered in my brain. But I love almond butter or peanut butter and dates...mmm I'd love to snack on some dates right about now.

So when we decided to find a snack that cures that sweet tooth without dumping a bunch of sugar in our bodies, we came up with the idea of sprucing up the typical apples and peanut butter dip. Healthy, sweet and nutritious, and no added sugar, simply natural, these healthy apple snacks (which also happen to look like tiny healthy donuts, always a plus) will allow you to indulge without being unhealthy.

What you'll need:

- Apples sliced, centers removed
- Organic peanut butter or almond butter, no added sugar
- Crushed walnuts
- Unsweetened coconut flakes
- Ground cinnamon
- Dates (cube them up or slice and dice them)
- (If you're not vegan like us try honey too...mmm)

Slice up your apples, thickness of each slice is up to you and how you like it most, and remove the center. They should look like flat donuts.

Now you can spread the peanut butter or almond butter on top, keeping in mind that you don't want too much peanut butter either. Anything in excess isn't good!

Now you can sprinkle each apple slice with the coconut flakes, cinnamon, honey if you're not vegan, walnuts, and diced dates. Mmm...I could have some dates right about now.
